Since the start of social distancing, Julia decided to up and leave her Nashville apartment in order to wait the chaos out with family friends. She went to New Jersey and after being laid off from both her jobs, was at a loss of how to fill her time. She decided to write something every day, without judgment and without the intention of release. She then wrote the final song on “pride.” titled “here’s to us,” a celebration of LGBTQ+ folks and their beautiful differences, commemorating the idea that nobody should have to live their lives trying to fit someone else’s narrative. She thought about all of the LGBTQ+ folks stuck in homes where they may be having to hide their hearts, and decided she would put together an EP of songs to commemorate Pride Month, as most of the celebrations and parades have been cancelled. The first track on the EP, “pride.” comes out May 22, 2020.
